Chris Burch (yes, Tory’s ex who still serves on the brand’s Board of Directors) has indeed created a wonderful world inside his new SoHo flagship—aptly named C. Wonder—on Spring Street. The chic new store and lifestyle brand houses tons of well-priced merch from kitchen appliances—we spotted a heart shaped waffle maker— to jewelry, shoes, jackets, jeans, and even a Vespa with a flower motif (above). Remarkably, all of the items demonstrate the brand’s whimsical and stylish aesthetic, making it the perfect one stop shop. We got a sneak peek into the boutique on Tuesday morning, before it officially opens its elegant, bright green, enamel doors this Saturday.
The 7,200 square foot store boasts five distinct sections with surprisingly affordable pieces. In fact, most of the products are under $40. (Check out our slide show to see the fabulous color-blocked envelope clutch for $24.) The digs are homey and inviting with dark mahogany tables, plush velvet couches and ottomans, colorful geometric rugs, and high gloss book cases. Upon entering the store you’ll find two rooms: on the left you’ll see a well edited selection of button downs, sweaters with brass buttons ($78), tailored blazers, and some great tweed jackets ($168). On the right you’ll find tons of jewelry (we picked up an amazing black leather cuff with gold studs for $98), belts (we loved a calf hair leopard number for $38), laptop cases, bags, and wallets.
Towards the back, you’ll find a monogram station where you can engrave or embroider practically anything for $15 or less. We’re talking charm bracelets, bags, shirts, throws, scarves, and picture frames, to name a few. The friendly staff (clad in crisp white button downs and cute monogrammed waist aprons) will help you make your mark and show you the finished product on an iPad. (You know where we’ll be getting our next housewarming gift.) The store’s goal to “personalize” one’s shopping experience is also carried through in the dressing rooms. Each room has an LCD screen where you can set your own lighting and music to suit your mood. There’s also a help button you can press if you need a different size, no need to awkwardly poke your head out in hopes of getting someone’s attention.
In the home section you’ll find everything from plates with bright geometric patterns, to monogrammed wooden cutting boards, initial mugs, pillows, clocks and table linens. Our favorite item? The bright green, pink and orange bikes with brown leather seats for $200. You can even get a matching helmet and water bottle to boot. Click through our gallery to see some more great finds, or stop by the store this Saturday and Sunday. They’ll have a DJ spinning, giveaways, free gifts with purchases, and other surprises. We’ll see you there!–AMANDA LIBBY
