All Hale Tribeca’s First Fume-Free SalonTribeca's Hale Organic Salon Offers Toxic-Free hair Treatments
Good news expectant mothers and health-conscious beauty junkies! There’s a new salon in town offering a totally toxic-free hair care experience. It’s called Hale, an all-natural and fume-free hair mecca created by Joe Murray (a former stylist at SoHo’s now-closed John Masters salon).
The spot—which takes its name from the old English word for “healthy, disease free, robust and full of life”—offers a variety of organic hair services using all-natural, animal-friendly products from the John Masters line. Clients can choose from services including blowouts ($50 and up), up-do’s (starting at $100) and cuts (also $100 and up). Color treatments (which start at $100) are done with Schwarzkopf Essensity’s products, which are free of ammonia, parabens, and artificial fragrances. Next month the salon will also welcome an essential oil expert to do scalp massages with custom prescription blends.
The large airy space—which boasts a separate, sealed off and specially ventilated “Fume Room” should you require hair spray—was designed with a similarly eco-friendly mindset. Wooden floors were salvaged from a 200-year-old church, French doors separating the color and styling rooms come from an old rectory, and the wooden shelves underneath sleek, oversized mirrors, are recycled church pews. A vintage piano, which serves as a check-in desk, adds to the unique feel. Right now, Hale is appointment only, but you can stop by for a walk-in beginning April 1st. See you there!—CHASE ROSENHale Salon| 91 Franklin St (between Broadway and Church St) | 646-221-9115
