Anything But Ordinary: Meet Hudson Common, NYC’s Newest Beer HallHead to Hudson Common for Local Brews, Soda Shop Cocktails and Inventive Eats Priced Under $16
Looking for the perfect bar to watch March Madness, sip on craft beers, and enjoy some inventive treats à la kale caeser salad? We thought so. Well, you can find it all at Hudson Common, the recently opened beer hall and burger joint located off lobby of the Hudson Hotel (also home to Hudson Lodge). And this new 3,000-square-foot space—it features long communal tables flanked by throne-like chairs, comfy leather couches, large fireplaces, twinkling string lights, and an adjacent outdoor patio—is unlike any beer hall or beer garden you’ll find from Midtown to Munich.
At the bar, choose from 16 locally-brewed draft beers and a variety of clever soda shop-inspired specialty cocktails, including a rum-spiked Root Beer Float, Vanilla Cream Soda made with flavored vodka and vanilla-citrus liqueur, and the Pink Slip—a sweet mix of hibiscus vodka, champagne, passion fruit, pineapple juice, and rosé ($16 each).
When it’s time to chow down, order either the “common” or “uncommon” dishes all priced under $16. Traditional plates include the Chicken Parm made with aioli, tomato sauce, and three types of cheese ($15), the Common Burger ($10), and thrice cooked fries ($5). Feeling adventurous? Expand your palate with “uncommon” offerings like Peanut Butter BBQ Ribs served with Texas toast ($12), French Toast Grilled Cheese with maple drizzle ($14), and our favorite, Bloody Mary Bacon Duck Fat Fries ($9). For dessert, enjoy Odd Fellows Artisanal Custard ($8) developed by Sam Mason, WD-50’s former executive pastry chef. No matter which side of the menu you make a play for, your taste buds will win at Hudson Common. —CASSIE KREITNER
