Top Hops Beer Shop on the Lower East Side Offers More Than 700 Varieties of Beer

We already told you about our favorite NYC beer bar, but what if you want to stock up on the best brews to-go? Enter Top Hops Beer Shop, a new Lower East Side beer boutique. The spot, founded by former Anheuser-Busch sales exec Ted Kenny, offers more than 700 bottles from all over the world (along with classics including Bud Light and Stella Artois, of course).

The sleek interior is lined with refrigerators stocked with a comprehensive selection of domestic and imported bottles (ranging from $1.99 to $41.99).  You can buy the brews individually or create your own custom 6 packs to-go. Feeling adventurous? Try the Greenport Harbor Brewery or Founders Dirty Bastard. While the options can be over-whelming, the friendly staff is happy to help. And, if you want to learn more, aspiring beer buffs can check out classes and brew-master tastings, which will be listed on the shop’s website.

If you’re craving a cold one on the spot, head to the center tasting table which pours 20 daily selections on tap. The half-bar, half-grocery also boasts a small menu with local foods including cheese from Consider Bardwell Farm in Vermont, and small bites from Essex Street Market. They plan to introduce more items in the weeks to come.

Top Hops is open Monday through Wednesday from 2pm-11pm, Thursdays from 2pm to midnight and Friday though Sunday from noon to 8pm. You know where we’ll be stocking up for our Super Bowl party!—CHASE ROSEN
