The pressure is on: you need to find a perfect venue for an upcoming birthday celebration, bridal shower, or charity event.
Can we interest you in Katharine Hepburn’s former four-story brownstone? We hear it’s lovely this time of year. Or what about Lady Gaga’s old Lower East Side apartment?
Those are just some of the fabulously exclusive locales available for daily (or nightly) rentals on Eventup.com—an online marketplace specializing in venue listings and bookings. The site originally launched across Southern California and San Francisco in March, and thankfully, branched out to the New York area a few weeks back.
While there are over 500 New York locations to pick from, searching for your perfect space is quite easy: simply choose your event type (options range from corporate events to launch parties and film shoots), price range, and number of guests (from 10 to 1,000). You can also select venue types (think restaurants, wineries, and even theaters), location types (indoor, rooftop, and handicap accessible to name a few), and amenities including pools, valet parking, and catering.
Some of our favorite finds include the glass-enclosed, three story Grand Foyer at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall available for a cool $6000, an impeccably decorated office space featured on Desperate Housewives (priced at $5000), the screening room at The Bryant Park Hotel (movie night, anyone?), a private room at Catch for $1,500, and The James Hotel’s penthouse for $4000. Of course, some more affordable options include $20 for a private room at Bounce Sporting Club, a huge loft space for $175, an “Eclectic Tri-Level Central Park Townhome” for $395, and a banquet room at the 21 Club starting at $500 to name a few.
As for the best part: since there’s no need to hire an event planner, imagine all of the extra Veuve you can buy!—AMANDA LIBBY
Carol,
Don’t get too excited… Their website is non-functional for actually booking any venue. They take your credit card info along with your event details but no booking ever takes place. Be careful giving your cc info to these guys!
This is the best post ever! My husband’s 45th is coming up and wow! this opens up so many creative possibilies!
