Schmackary’s Brings Specialty Cookies (And Milk!) To Hell’s KitchenSchmackary's Gives Cookies And Milk A Major Makeover
Ready to take your cookie experience to the next level? Head to Schmackary’s, a recently opened bakeshop that’s giving the classic American dessert a major makeover.
Zachary Schmahl, who began selling his all-natural treats online last spring, is the mastermind behind the Hell’s Kitchen shop. Inside you’ll find cozy round tables made from reclaimed wood, a quirky green chalkboard with daily specials, and a sleek marble countertop with stacks and stacks of homemade goodies.
As you can imagine, the cookie mecca bakes much more than your standard chocolate chip (although they do offer the classic made with sea salt and semisweet chocolate). The spot’s most popular dessert is the maple bacon ($2.75 for a generous size), a chewy indulgence dominated by a sweet syrup flavor and hints of smoky bacon bites. We also loved Schmackary’s twist on the classic peanut butter cup cookie, filled with roasted peanuts, chocolate chunks, and dusted with sea salt.
Other varieties include peanut butter banana, white chocolate cherry chunk, a deep-dish style red velvet ($3), and a gluten free sweet corn option (made with corn flour, cornmeal, cranberries, and pecan bits). Can’t pick just one? Specials include two cookies for $5 and five cookies for $10. (They also offer milk shakes, ice cream sammies, and sticky buns, to name a few.)
And yes, you can get a glass of milk—or a latte with Tiger Stripe espresso—on the side.—JENNIFER LEBOVITZSchmackary’s| 362 West 45th Street| 646-801-YUMM
