SoHo Gets Sweeter with Georgetown Cupcake!Georgetown Cupcake Opens on 111 Mercer Street
It’s official: the cupcake sisters finally opened up shop in SoHo, and even brought a pink Swarovski covered KitchenAid mixer to boot. That’s right, TLC stars Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne of DC Cupcakes welcomed customers to their first NYC cup-cakery last week, and we must say: it was worth the wait.
The sweet boutique offers the same beautiful baked goods we often drool over on the show: red velvet cupcakes topped with delicate fondant hearts, decadent Valrhona chocolate desserts with whipped chocolate frosting, and of course, daily and seasonal flavors as well. (There’s even a gluten free, lava fudge option.) To celebrate the Big Apple opening, Georgetown Cupcake is also offering three exclusive, NYC-inspired flavors: cheesecake (topped with a fondant yellow taxi), apple crumble, and black and white cookie (photos below).
The new, 3000 square foot space boasts a large open kitchen—we even spotted Katherine whipping up some specialties and chatting with customers—seating for 12 up front (surrounded by pastel cupcake paintings), and private party rooms downstairs. Of course, you can grab your treats to-go in pleasantly pink bakery boxes. As for prices, you can snag a single treat for $2.75, half a dozen for $15, and a dozen for $29. Need something to wash it down? The new Mercer Street locale also serves coffee, tea, lattes, and hot cocoa (soy milk available). If the adorable confections inspired you to get cooking, you can pick up a copy of the sisters’ The Cupcake Diaries cookbook on your way out.—AMANDA LIBBYGeorgetown Cupcakes| 111 Mercer Street| 212-431-4504
