It’s no wonder why diners have been packing into The Smith’s new Midtown location since the popular East Village mainstay opened its doors on 51st street two weeks ago. The American brasserie offers the same unpretentious, yet classically cool aesthetic in its new digs, with a 10,000 square foot space adorned with white subway tiles, a long zinc bar, and a unisex bathroom equipped with a quirky photo booth and vintage shoe shine station. The menu boasts the same comfort food staples offered downtown, from chicken pot pie with a cheddar chive biscuit top ($19), to mac and cheese ($13), along with plenty of pastas, burgers, and fabulously fresh entrée salads. The drink menu is equally extensive, you can sip everything from Bellini’s for $12, to perfectly stiff martinis, inventive mixed drinks (we loved the angry apple muddler), and several draft beers ($6.50) . Plus, if you stop by on a Sunday you can enjoy a burger and beer for $15.
