Craving a taste of southern France? Well, no need to book at trip to Saint-Tropez just yet. Simply head to Château Cherbuliez, a newly opened wine bar and brasserie, serving up a touch of Parisian charm in the Flatiron District.
French native Philippe Bondon of the Dual Groupe (the same hospitality company behind Toy and MPD) helped create the luxe locale—it was previously home to CrossBar—housed inside Limelight Marketplace’s former parish building. On the lower level you’ll find a massive garden (it seats up to 100 guests!) filled with wrought iron tables, chic white umbrellas, and plenty of greenery. If you’re looking to cool off, just head to the indoor wine bar—it’s stocked with plenty of bottles from France and Italy—surrounded by exposed brick walls, suede stools, and sleek rectangular tables.
As for the food, Chef de Cuisine Peter Larsen collaborated with Todd English to create a menu featuring French favorites including steak frites ($16), escargot ($12), Foie Gras on grilled bread ($16), and tons of seafood. There’s also an impressive outdoor raw bar serving up everything from mussel ceviche ($10), to cold lobster ($18/$29), and classic shrimp cocktails ($12).
You can stop by for lunch, brunch, or dinner, and in a few weeks you can check out the 60-seat fine dining room slated to open on the second floor.—AMANDA LIBBY
