Veg Out: The Cinnamon Snail Comes to NYC!The Cinnamon Snail Food Truck Offers Vegan, Gluten Free, and Vegetarian Goodies on the Go
The Cinnamon Snail food truck sure isn’t moving at a snail’s pace. The popular vegan lunch truck, which used to call Hoboken home, is now planting its roots in Manhattan. The restaurant on wheels recently started camping out at three different city locations (Midtown West, Flatiron and Wall Street) and this week is planning to add even more NYC days to its schedule.
The mobile eatery offers breakfast and lunch—seasonal options include blue corn pancakes ($9), breakfast burritos ($8), raw pizza ($15), and fair trade coffee ($2) to name a few—and owner Adam Sobel says the truck is 96% organic, and the majority of ingredients are local (with many gluten free offerings too!).
Whatever dish you choose, expect a flavor explosion. We visited the truck while it was parked on 55th Street and Broadway and tested out the special of the day, a General Tsos Seitan sandwich. The large portion had the perfect amount spice and sweetness. Other options Lemongrass 5 spice Seitan ($8) and a Maple Mustard Tempeh Sandwich ($8).
And don’t even think about skipping dessert. The cinnamon twist is to die for and the coconut donut is hands down the best donut we’ve ever had. We also recommend the S’Mores donut, which uses the famous vegan Sweet & Sara marshmallows surrounded by chocolately goodness. For just $2 a pop, you’ll want to grab a few different flavors to try.
But if you move like a snail to catch the truck you may find yourself in a long line. Vegans and meat-eaters alike line up pretty early to grab the goods, so we suggest running to get your spot soon. To find out where The Cinnamon Snail is on any given day follow them on twitter @VeganLunchTruck.
